Amber Corns

The Amber corn is a Caramel corn that has an active (expressed) Hypomelanistic gene. The Hypomelanistic gene seems to be a special gene that "brightens" the colours of the corn snake.
Amber corns were first produced in 1995, by Rich Zuchowski of
"Serpenco", from normal coloured parents. These adults were the results of breeding his Caramel corns with corns khown to carry the Hypomelanistic gene. Rich states on his site that he believes that the first year he offered Amber corns for sale was in 1997
I understand that they were first available in the UK in 1999 or 2000. I bought my first Amber hatchlings in 2002. Those hatchlings grew very quickly and were breeding size by Spring of 2004. Please see below for photos of some of those animals.
